5pb (Mages) and Nitroplus have officially announced a reboot of the Steins;Gate visual novel in 2025. The project will be released under the name "Steins;Gate: Re:Boot" and, according to the developers, will receive additional story chapters and updated graphics. It is not yet known whether any major changes will be made to the endings and the plot as a whole and whether the same seiyuu will remain in the voice acting of the characters, but they promise to announce production details later.
The novella is part of the Science Adventure series and is the second in it. The game was adapted into anime format by the White Fox studio, and among all the adaptations of this series, it received the highest rating and approval from viewers. The original novella was translated into Russian by enthusiasts, and the manga based on it was completely published in Russia by XL Media.
The events unfold in 2010 in the Japanese district of Akihabara, and the main character is Rintaro Okabe, a student at the Tokyo University of Electrical Engineering. Together with his friends, he accidentally creates a real time machine from an ordinary microwave. With the help of this "MobiloVolvanovka", the protagonist gets the ability to send messages to the past, but the consequences are unpredictable and tragic. Moreover, the invention comes to the attention of the organization SERN, which is also interested in such developments.
