Walkthrough of the quest Dancing with the Devil in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Having secured sufficient from the mercenaries through the connections of Vaclain Barbant and having at your disposal the destructive power of the "Finger of God" cannon, set out to storm the Malešov fortress. During the mission, you will have to decide whether to follow Zizka's plan or develop your own - more dangerous, but not so radical. One way or another, capture the fortress and capture Otto of Bergov, using threats or force.
Prepare for battle
Before going on a mission, Zizka gives time to rest and prepare for battle. Henry doesn't have any specific goals at this point, but there are plenty of opportunities to gain additional reputation, advance affair with Katerina, and also equip yourself well for a tough battle and make the age easier. Here's what you should do at the preparation stage:
- Take a rest and fully restore your health.
- Buy some strengthening and healing potions. Don't forget to stock up on bandages to stop bleeding.
- Repair your armor or buy a new one. Any plate suit and a helmet with a visor to protect your face are best for combat.
- Get a good weapon. You can reforge it. Longsword of Racek Kobyla using three pieces of Toledo steel. You will get an excellent weapon with decent damage. In addition, for completing this action you will receive the achievement "Reforging".
- Take a handgun and some ammo with you. This will also be useful for getting the achievement "Exactly at noon".
Once you've finished your preparations, talk to your comrades. This will give you some preliminary information about the assault. On the territory of "Devil's Place" you can find:
- Katerina - Talk to the girl and listen to her concerns about the battle. During the conversation, you will learn that she is very worried about Indro. Upon completion, you will receive reputation points, which will help in the development of the romance.
- Shmuel - after talking, you will learn that he is also going to storm and wants to take revenge on Otto of Bergov. You can him, for which you will receive reputation.
- Waklen Barbanta - in the conversation you will learn details about the mercenaries he found.
- Mosquito - try to find out what he found out about Maleshov, but the language barrier will prevent you from doing this.
- Janos - Having found him, go together to Komar and ask him about the fortress. You will be able to find out that Rosa Ruthard is inside.
- Bogutu — will tell his thoughts about the capture of Maleshov.
Go to the evening meeting
Once you've finished your preparations, find Zizka somewhere on the tavern grounds. In a conversation with him, choose "What awaits us in Maleshov?" He'll briefly tell you about the battle, and then you'll be able to choose one of two options:
- "I'll wait with you until the evening" — time will rewind and the quest will continue automatically.
- "I'll be back in the evening" - Wait for the meeting to start on your own. The remaining time can be spent on more thorough preparation.
At the meeting, Zizka will tell you the details of the plan to seize the fortress. Listen to the end, after which the scene will change to Malešov.
Help with the capture of Bergov
During the cutscene, Dry Devil will kill a peasant and order his men, including Henry, to burn the village. This action is part of Zizka's plan and should help lure most of the militia out of the fortress. At this point, you can decide whether to burn Maleshov or not. This choice has consequences, so before making a decision, familiarize yourself with the specifics of each of them:
- If you agree to follow Zizka's plan, you will have to completely destroy the village, killing or driving out the inhabitants. All characters with quests will disappear, and tasks related to Maleshov will be blocked. However, in this case, Zizka's plan will work, and the battle in the fortress courtyard will be easier, since there will be almost no soldiers left there. To the actions of Sukhoi Chert, in a dialogue with him, select "Yes. The trap must snap shut.".
- You can go against the plan and fight Dry Devil to defend your point of view. In this case, it will not be possible to lure Bergov's people out of the fortress, and you will have to fight many more enemies. But the village will remain intact, and all quests will be available.
Defeat the Devil
The scenario without burning the village, although more complicated, is still the most preferable. In this case, it will be possible to develop best ending.
To prevent a raid on the village of Maleshov, you need to convince the Devil to abandon this idea. This can only be done by force. During the dialogue, select the following lines:
- "No! I will not kill innocents!"
- "My family was destroyed in the same way."
- "Let's fight."
You need to win the duel, and then talk to the Devil, and he will leave the village alone.
If you decide to burn the village, before storming the fortress you will have to kill or drive the peasants out of the settlement, and then attack Bergov's arriving soldiers.
Climb over the wall
When dawn breaks and it's time to storm, Henry, Ptacek, Shmuel, Janos, and Komar will go to infiltrate the fortress walls. Follow your friends and wait for them to set up the ladder, then climb it. You can press "L Alt" to automatically reach the walls.
Open the first gate
Inside the fortress, immediately crouch and go left. If you didn't burn the village, the gate will be guarded by two soldiers. Hide behind the cart and distract both of them in turn by throwing a stone:
- Throw the first stone at the wall to the left of the gate and wait until one of the guards goes there.
- Throw the second stone somewhere not far from the remaining guard so that he also moves a little away from the gate.
Next, try to act quickly before the soldiers return to their posts.
When the path is clear, sneak up to the gate and interact with it by pressing "E". If you haven't burned the village down before and haven't been caught by the guards inside the fortress, you'll get the achievement at this point. "Not a single good deed".
Hold out until reinforcements arrive
Once the gates open, you'll need to fight Bergov's soldiers until your allies reach the fortress. Fight at the gates and don't let yourself get hurt.
Defeat the enemies in the outer courtyard
Follow Suhiy Chert and Zizka to the courtyard and defeat all of Mr. Bergov's soldiers there. With good equipment, this should not be difficult.
Cover your friends with gunfire
Once the outer courtyard is clear of soldiers, find cover and shoot back at the archers on the walls. The easiest way to do this is with a crossbow or a bow, as it is much harder to hit the target with a handgun. A cutscene will soon start in which the suspension bridge mount is knocked down with a cannonball.
Enter the fortress and deal with all of Bergov's soldiers.
Talk to Ptacek and Zizka
Once the fortress courtyards are cleared, climb the wall, find Jan Ptacek there and wait for Zizka to approach him. After that, you can talk to your comrades. The choice during the dialogue does not affect anything.
Try to walk outside as little as possible, as Bergov's soldiers shoot from windows and drop rocks on your heads.
To avoid ruining the romantic line with Rose, during negotiations with Bergov, say: "Let's come to an agreement". After this, you will be asked to choose one of the available persuasion options:
- Ransom is the best outcome for both parties (persuasion).
- It's time to change sides, chamberlain (scholarship).
- No matter how many people we kill, you'll die! (intimidation).
Even if all skill checks fail, you can still fight your way into the tower. To do this, select the following lines:
- I won't put Rose in danger!
- I will try to save Rose.
- Yes, I will do it.
If you remain silent and then insist on burning the tower, Otto will surrender himself, but his relationship with Rosa will be ruined.
Save Rose
Go storm the tower alone. The main thing is to remove the shooters from the entrance, after which your comrades will be able to break in and help Indro. You can enter the inside via the wooden stairs on the eastern side.
Load the handgun in advance. If you can kill one of the shooters at the entrance with it, you will get the achievement "Exactly at noon". You can get it later, but this is the most convenient moment.
Jump over the barricade and knock down the door to the room where Bergov and the rest of the soldiers have dug in.
Soon after you enter and engage in battle, your comrades will arrive. Together, you can easily defeat Mr. Bergov in the tower.
Achievement Not a single good deed
Prevent Dry Devil from burning the village and remain undetected when opening the gate to the fortress to complete the "You saved Maleshov and didn't get caught" condition and earn the No Good Deed achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

During the quest, while shooting at archers, no one came to help push the cart, even when all the archers were killed. What to do?
You need to hide behind the cart and wait for the cutscene to start.
It is not necessary to kill archers)
