How to start the Light and Shadow quest in KCD 2
Having completed the previous task "Source of Inspiration", go to the artist's workshop in Trosky Castle. After talking to the painter, you will learn that he needs new paints. However, this time he wants to experiment and mix them with the yolk of a basilisk egg. The fastest way to take the quest and complete the dialogue is to select the lines in sequence:
- "How can I help you?"
- "Come on, tell me: what do you need?"
- "And how do you think I can help you with this?"
After receiving the task, ask the master additional questions:
- "Where can I get an egg laid by a rooster?" Vojta will tell you that, according to rumors, Slavek from Semin has such a bird.
- "Where can I get a toad?" - he will tell you that they can be found in swamps and will imitate their croaking.
Additional inquiries will add quest markers to the map, which you can immediately head to.
Walkthrough of the quest Light and Shadow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
During the unusual mission, meet the owner of the black rooster in Semin. Find out what happened to the bird using threats or persuasion and get the coveted egg. The received item will need to be left among the toads in the swamp, and the exact location can be suggested by a strange merchant living under the bridge.
Find the black rooster's egg
Go to Semin and talk to the peasant Slavek. During the day, you can find him working in the yard.
The man will refuse to it that he has such a bird. To find out the information, one of three easy skill checks, focusing on your own characteristics. Note that only in the "scientist" version will your reputation not decrease upon success.
The peasant will tell you that he got rid of the devil's bird and left it at the edge of the forest. After finding out where he took the rooster, head to the dung heap outside the village. Be prepared for the protagonist to be attacked by a pair of wild dogs upon arrival.
To get an achievement "Fast" You can't kill animals. So if you're collecting achievements, don't take out your weapon and chase the dogs away hand-to-hand.
On the rubble of boards and animal remains you will find the body of a rooster, and next to it the treasured egg.
Find where to put the egg
The swamp where the toads live is located near the Zheleevsky Inn. Go there and cross the bridge to safely descend to the pond along the path.
Under the bridge, you can talk to the homeless merchant and ask him about the croaking of toads. In this case, the information on the map will be clarified: the search area disappears and only the quest marker will remain.
Head deeper into the swamp along the left bank, following the point on the map. Approach the dead tree where the croaking is loudest and hold down "L Alt" to investigate the nest.
Interact with the small depression under the trunk to leave an egg for the toads to hatch.
Wait until the toads hatch the egg
A day must to obtain the basilisk egg. During this time, you can do other quests, explore the map, read or sleep. When the right time comes, a notification will appear about the quest update, and Henry will remind you that it is time to return.
If you want, you can simply rewind time, but you can't do this near the toads' nest. Go up to the inn and wait there. You can eat and sleep for half a day right there.
If the task does not update after rewinding time, make sure you are far enough away from the nest, or try going to bed.
Take the basilisk egg from the nest
When you receive a notification about the task update, return to the swamp and pick up the egg left there. It will turn green and change its name to "basilisk egg". Having received an unexpected result, return to Troski for a reward and answers to your questions.
Next quest - "Portrait in Crimson". It can be started in-game 24 hours after the current task is completed.
Reward
Vojta will not be able to reward the work done with money, but he will give in return silver ring with gemstone worth 146 groschen. As an additional reward, there will be an opportunity to apply an image of a green basilisk to the shield in a dark and light version.
