Khalsin in Baldur's Gate 3 is the leader of the Druids of the Emerald Grove and a potential companion who is unlocked in the second act of the story. In order to be able to recruit a character into your ranks, you will first have to save him from the Wildwood Goblin Camp as part of the quest "Rescue the first druid, along the way defeating the goblin leaders and resolving the conflict of tiefling refugees with the grove.
In this guide, we will tell you how to save the druid in Baldur's Gate 3 and kill the goblin leaders, what problems you may encounter when completing the Khalsin quest, and what you need to do to recruit the hero into the travel team.
Is Khalsin worth saving?
Khalsin is a playable character of the druid class, who has a wide range of skills: from magic spells of all schools (the variability is very wide) to healing abilities and the ability to turn into animals, for example, into a bear, spider, cat, and even bear. The last skill opens up space both in combat and in the exploration of the world: large animals have unique combat talents, and small animals are able to make their way through holes, penetrating into various secret locations around the world. Character characteristics at the first level:
- Wisdom - 17 (main parameter).
- Strength - 10.
- Agility - 14.
- Endurance - 14.
- Intelligence - 8.
- Charisma - 12.
As an elf, Halsin is resistant to charm and sleep, has night vision that allows him to see up to 12 meters in the dark, and is comfortable with longswords and bows from the start of the game. The druid can talk to animals, but his spell set doesn't have as many offensive spells as Geila. This is a character of bright morals, so it makes sense to save him if you plan to stay on the side of good during the age of the game.
With Halsin you can start novel in the second act. It is he who is the same bear that the developers from Larian showed as part of the final presentation of Baldurs Gate 3.
Where to find Khalsin in Baldur's Gate 3
In the first act, the druid is imprisoned in the Goblin Camp. Let's figure out how to get there, where to find the druid Khalsin and how to rescue him.
How to get to the goblin camp
There are at least three ways to get to the camp. How to get into the Courtyard and the Broken Sanctuary are detailed in goblin camp guide.
Halsin's Cage is located inside a goblin-infested temple in an area called the Warg Pens. You can get there from the Broken Shrine.
In the goblin camp, not only the druid is waiting for salvation, but also the bard Volo, a valuable character and merchant. Find out in a separate guide how to save Volo and get an artificial eye.
How to save the druid Khalsin
Go to the Warg Pens and approach the cage with the bear, which is thrown stones by juvenile goblins. The dialogue will start automatically. Here you can make a choice:
- Stand on the side of the goblins and provoke the bear. This action will fail the Khalsin branch.
- Try to stop animal abuse.
The latter choice is the correct one, but entails a massacre in the Warg Pens. Khalsin will side with the travelers and will help in the fight with the local guards as a non-playable NPC. A few key moments of the battle:
- Small goblins at the sight of a bear escaping from a cage will run to the exit to call for help. If they succeed, enemy reinforcements will arrive - up to 6 goblins.
- Hinged vats of coals hang from the ceiling, hit them to unleash fire damage on enemies.
- Wargs and goblins do not like fire. Use Alchemist's Fire or AoE Pyro Spells.
After dealing with the guards, talk to the druid.
He will bring up to date and ask to destroy three leaders of the goblin camp. Agree and exit the pens to the Shattered Sanctuary.
After destroying the leaders, return to Khalsin and report back. In the dialogue, he will tell you that he must go to moon towers and promises to meet next time in emerald grove. Follow the grove, talk to Zevlor at the entrance and Khalsin in the center of the sanctuary. Before leaving, the tieflings promise to visit the camp to have a feast.
Go to the camp, end the day, chat with the tieflings and Halsin. The next morning, the druid will thank you for saving the grove and decide to stay in the company of heroes. On this task "Rescue the first druid» along with the tiefling quest line in the Emerald Grove is coming to an end.
How to kill goblin leaders
Let's analyze the methods of dealing with the three leaders of the goblins:
Priestess Gut
To kill Priestess Gut without slaughter and stealthily, two conditions must be met:
- Select the character for which euthanasia is in effect. Will do Galebecause he is human.
- Separate the hero from the rest of the squad.
Approach Guts in the main hall of the Broken Shrine near the bone totem and start a dialogue. Choose strictly the following replicas:
- "Why do I need a brand?"
- Further, on the proposal to put a stigma: "Something I got sick of."
- The gut will begin to dig into the mind of the hero. Reply to this with "Penetrate even deeper into her mind."
- Then select “Can we talk privately? This is a secret matter."
The priestess will agree, lead the character to her chambers and offer to "clear her head." In a face-to-face dialogue, you must agree with Guts' proposals for expelling the parasite. Choose replicas:
- "Yes. Let's".
- "Let her rummage through your memories."
- “So get her out of there.”
- The gut will offer to take an incomprehensible potion. Select "Drink Potion".
This action will put the hero to sleep and he will be in the chambers of the gut, behind bars and in chains. In this situation, it is important not to twitch and behave calmly. Choose the following replicas in the dialogue:
- "Keep silent."
- When the character starts tugging at the chains looking for slack, select Save Strength.
After a few dialogue iterations, a stranger Corilla will appear from the teleport, quietly kill the goblin and her bodyguard Polma and let the hero go. Thus, the Gut is neutralized and no one will know about it. You can also safely loot her chambers - there are a lot of valuable things here.
From Guts' chambers there is a secret age leading to solve the moon puzzle.
Minthara
The Night Guardian can also be destroyed without engaging in open combat. Let's figure out how to kill Mintara with cunning:
- In the Shattered Shrine, approach the drow and start a dialogue.
- Ask “What kind of hunt? On whom?".
- Choose "If you bring her to the tieflings, they will all die. But you will win her trust.”
- Next, click on “The prisoner is unnecessarily to us. I know where the grove is" and "No one will hide from me."
- At a certain point, let Mintara get into your mind by choosing "Let her read your mind" and then just agree with everything she says.
Once the dialogue is over, Mintara will go about her business and walk across a very fragile wooden bridge. As soon as she steps on it, enter turn-based mode, choose a hero capable of casting a fire blast and throw him at the wooden prop. One shot and Mintara will fly into the abyss. The goblins in the area won't even move an eye.
However, it is worth considering that in this scenario, you will have to give up Loot for killing Mintara. If you want to take armor from her, you will have to engage in open battle.
Dror Ragzlin
In the battle with the hobgoblin, you will have to act more openly. There is no point in talking to him. In combat, follow these tips on how to kill Dror Ragzlin:
- In the first turns, destroy the drums calling for help (2 pcs.).
- Do not get close to the hole in the floor, as Dror Razglin will easily throw the hero to the lower level of the sanctuary to the spiders, which will significantly complicate the fight.
- Consider the goblin shaman as a priority target: he shoots acid beams and paralyzes heroes.
Having dealt with the hobgoblin, return to Halsin in the Warg Pens and report your success. If you have problems with this enemy, then read detailed guide to killing Razglin.
What to do if the quest "Save the Druid" is not completed
Many players are facing an issue where, after the tieflings leave the grove and the holiday at the camp, Halsin is still not allowed to the party. This is not a bug. The druid is not a playable character in the first act, but he can be made one. First you have to activate the quest called "Remove the dark curse". To do this, you need to sing a song on the lute, taken from Malus Torm from the House of Healing, to the character Art Kulah lying in the Last Light tavern. The quest is closely related to Khalsin and his targets in the Corrupted Lands. The hero will become playable approximately in the middle of the task, after the episode with the protection of the portal.
There is a real bug in the task "Save the first druid". After reporting to Khalsin about the murder of the goblin leaders, the druid does not move to the Emerald Grove, as intended by the quest. There is only one solution to this problem: update to the latest version of the game. The developers claim that in the first post-release patch they fixed the problem with Halsin's movement.
We hope this guide helped you find and rescue the druid Halsin in Baldur's Gate 3. comments ask questions on the topic of the article so that the author or the players can help. In the relevant section of our website, get acquainted with other BG3 guides.
Now in Act 3, he went on a long rest, and Halsing attacked Shkryab in the form of a bear. then he said the city was putting pressure on him and was going to share the hara-kiri. I haven't found any mention of this anywhere. I play on valor
Another cool thing about the fight with Dror is that you can first go down under his platform into a pit with spiders. The gate is not difficult to open. And if your Persian knows how to talk/interact with animals, then you can enlist the help of spiders. They will then go with you there to the Dror site and even help you finish off a couple of small pawns. (I killed him last, so I don’t know where they’ll crawl if there’s a different order, but they don’t mind eating goblins).
There is still a hidden path to the goblin camp - to the left of the outpost. You need to jump further than the standard one and check for traps (there are plenty of them). This path leads to a drunken trio (they don't get aggressive and generally don't care about the player).
The easiest way to kill Mintara is from the location with the door icon (on the left on your minimap). From there we climb to the small platform above and back to avoid attacks. It’s better to throw something like spikes onto the area and act covertly. (No one ever entered the battle - everyone acted from stealth). The main thing is to immediately close the eye, because it is healing.
Drora killed without entering the location, but by immediately throwing her spell at the square from the right door. All of mine were sitting behind the doors. The enemies stomped and stomped, and in the end they simply received enough damage from the area spell to quickly finish them off.
When rescuing Halsin in prison, DO NOT DROP the braziers onto the platform near the cells and DO NOT THROW area spells. He WILL NOT BY THEM and will eventually bend. I had to rollback because of this.
In prison, the easiest way is to first kill the goblin who goes into the room in the corridor - Astarion can calmly handle it there. Leave someone to control the corridor - the little goblins are very nimble, don’t let them escape. It's best to kill the one on the right next to the table when the second one goes to the cage with the wargs. This one can also be killed stealthily if you act quickly. Then you can watch the cut-scene. This will make the battle much easier.
You can also enter the Goblin Camp from the north, also by jumping. There are many options, yes.
Dror Razglin can be killed by surrounding mobs with barrels of gunpowder and alcohol. They are behind a closed door at the merchant next to Gut's room. You can kill them or negotiate. After that, we steal the barrels, placing them in inventory, drag and drop them. We climb up the stairs and shoot the braziers from the railing. Total we have nifigovy fireworks. Most of the HP will take. On medium difficulty, even small mobs can get one shot. Next - let Razglin climb up to you on the railing and you can safely push him down and he will die from a fall, and you will also receive an achievement.
A fun option. I've seen players do this. I also saw a method from the days of early access, in which Dror's manipulator arm Astarion throws him off the throne into the abyss. But either this option was fixed, or some modifiers work into the hands: in general, it does not reach the abyss in the release version. At least in my playthrough.
There, the main thing is to have time to drop at least 3 braziers out of 4 before the mobs are aggroed and the turn-based mode begins. My computer was very bad at that moment, it lagged as hell. I found this method all over the Internet. I placed two barrels near the diamonds, others between the mobs, which remained with the boss. And the main thing is not to waste the moment when the boss climbs, otherwise he can push the Persian.
Mintar, by the way, can be pushed into the abyss with a push, but yes, there will be no drop.
I killed her like this:
1) behind the wall there is a door to a room with a druid where there is a trinity of goblins. There is a tambourine at the door behind the column: first we break the tambourine from anxiety, then the goblins. Otherwise, they may sag.
2) a sentry walks all over the subway, comes to the trinity, to Mintar, makes a circle at the hole with spiders. We must bang it, otherwise it will greatly interfere.
3) in the room with Mintara we break the tambourine, take a healer, a scroll, break the bridge (you can use a bow). IMPORTANT! It is necessary to be not next to Mintara, but next to the rack, the eye and the goblin. While the goblin who beats the goblin does not see, we kill the eye, then the goble itself. Next, during the battle, you need to stand up so that your characters are as close as possible to the rack and away from the abyss, it is very important that they stand in a row so that Mintara cannot get around you from behind. We start to hit exclusively with bows and long-range spells, this will give a head start, because she needs to be buffed and jump over the abyss. It will be great to have something to stun/control when she is already next to you.
