An ordinary Japanese schoolboy, Subaru Natsuki, on his way from the store, is suddenly transported into a magical world. On the first day of his stay in the new reality, he accidentally encounters the candidate for the throne, Emilia, and finds out that he is endowed with the ability to roll back time upon death, but each time the time period for returning back becomes less and less. Through trial, reversal and error, the young man helps her return the stolen emblem and later provides during the royal elections. The final events of the first season are dedicated to the fight against the White Whale and the cult of the Witch.

The events of the second part begin with Subaru’s attempts to save Emilia’s maid Rem, who fell into a coma and was forgotten by everyone except the main character. The search for a solution to the problem leads Natsuki to the Sanctuary, where he meets the Witch of Greed Echidna and, during the first test, is transported to an illusory Japan. There he reconciles with his father and deals with a long-standing internal conflict, which at one time gave rise to complexes.

The serial killer Elsa Granhirt, who had previously tried to steal the ill-fated emblem, again intervenes in the course of events. The woman again starts a chain of murders and Subaru’s return to the past. At the same time, the protagonist for the first time gets the opportunity to tell someone the truth about the posthumous return and pours out his soul to Echidna. As punishment for this, the Witch Satella, who is related to the transfer of the protagonist to the fantasy world, makes her move, and Natsuki is forced to die again.
