Destroyed, aka the magic tower in Underdark, which belongs to Lenora and Irra. During the age, you will have to solve several riddles and meet the guard of the Magic Tower named Bernard - this will help you find out more about the missing owner, the priestess of Mystra. In the building you can find the ingredients needed for the quest "Help Mistletoe research the parasite", as well as treasures, unusual and rare items of equipment.
The guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the Magic Tower in BG3 with all the secrets: how to activate the elevator, go to the basement, why the button and lever are needed. Read on to learn how to disable the magic turrets, what to answer Bernard and how to defeat the boss, for which you will need an old key.
How to get to the Magic (Destroyed) Tower
The ruined tower is located in the southwest Underdark, this location is available in the first and second acts. Exploring the building is optional and you can return here at any time. Inside you will find several useful items and learn the story of its owner Lenore.
To get to the Magic Tower, from the teleporter "Coast" go up the stairs to the south. Then jump onto the road and turn west at the fork, after which you will find yourself at the gate leading to the courtyard.
As you approach, you will notice turquoise rays pointing to the characters and indicating the direction of attack magic guns. To further advance to the tower and move unimpeded along it, you will have to deal with the security guns.
How to disable turrets in the Ruined Tower
The entrance to the Magic Tower is protected by magic turrets, which automatically target the heroes and attack them from a long distance. All turrets will turn off when the elevator is activated, but you still need to get to it. There are several ways to deal with guns in the yard:
- Destroy them, causing direct damage.
- Temporarily deactivateusing anti-magic flowers.
- Ignore them and run to the desired point with one character.
For any of the selected methods, we recommend using walking mode, used when ing riddles and time traps. Next, we will tell you in more detail how to disable the turrets in the tower.
Complete destruction
Magic guns have the following properties:
- They are immune to necrotic, psychic abilities and poisons;
- Receive only half of cutting, piercing and fire damage;
- Lose twice as much health from lightning;
- Neutral to crushing and radiant damage, from thunder and acid.
Only 10 units of damage or more can hit the mystical turret, otherwise the structure’s HP will not be taken away.
Hide behind tall rocks, attack the turrets and go back into the shelters. Use the type of damage in accordance with the composition of the squad, but the most effective spells will be:
- "Shock Touch"
- "Magic Arrow"
- "Breath of Lightning"
- "Chromatic ball".
Level 3 spells are not included in the list because it is not worth spending their spell slots on magic cannons.
Deactivation by sussur flowers
Use an action "Throw", select sussur flowers and throw them from afar at the structures, after which they will stop working. You can collect anti-magic plants from "Sussur Trees", located north of the tower.
Where to find sussur flowers
- You will notice the first flower on the western side of the huge branch.
- You will find the second plant closer to the center of the tree.
- The third inflorescence is located under the previous one, near the ground.
- The fourth flower grows closer to the northern entrance to the location.
The path ahead using shelters
Since the turrets in the Magic Tower will still turn off after activating the elevator, you can immediately run to the desired point with one of the characters or the entire squad, ignoring the structures.
To get to the elevator, go around the courtyard clockwise arrow and hide from the first turret behind a high stone. Don't forget to use action "Snatch" and then run to the rise of stones.
Hide behind the statues from the second cannon on the main staircase and you will find yourself at the main entrance.
Using a similar method, you can by structures counter-clockwise arrows until you notice huge mushrooms on the west side of the building.
Explore the Magic Tower courtyard
In the southeast of the Ruined Tower courtyard, you will find a table with three bronze ingots and a “Letter to Irra.” There will be a locked heavy chest nearby (KS - 15), containing:
- Skybreaker (light throwing hammer with acid, crushing damage and the “Burning Punishment” skill, which allows you to deal additional fire damage and set the enemy on fire).

- Scroll "Blizzard"

How to activate the elevator in the Ruined Tower in Baldur's Gate 3
You need to go to the very bottom of the tower along the mushrooms growing on the wall, pick up the sussur flower, the closed door and put the plant into the generator. Heroes will be useful to overcome the path:
- From high sleight of hand or using the “Magic Hand” spell to open the door leading to the room with the elevator;

Jump on giant mushroom under the balcony on the southeast corner of the building and continue below until you reach the ground.
Follow deep into the courtyard, where you will definitely pick up sussur flower - Without it, it will not be possible to launch the elevator in the Magic Tower.

Explore the floors of the Magic Tower read all the books, if you want to avoid combat, choose a peaceful dialogue with the boss at the top of the tower and at the same time get almost all the items.

If you answered with a line from the play, the dialogue will continue:

- “No thanks,” Bernard will take the character’s hands and cheer him up.
When you complete the dialogue, look on the table "Mended Parchment" and talk to the tower guard again.
When prompted, the guard will give you a Potion of Greater Healing: “I only have blank slates left from you. The last gift, a thoughtless gift – but mine.”.
Kill in a fair fight
If you decide to kill Bernard, then at the end of the battle you will additionally receive his “Light of Creation” halberd and a key. The tower guard has some features that are important to know about, so we’ll share some tips:
- When dealing damage, consider stability boss: to cutting, piercing, crushing damage, to fire, lightning, poison and psychic attack.
- Don't stand close to Bernard, since he is strongest at short range. Firstly, with the “Aura of Static Damage” ability, the boss will take away a large number of HP from nearby heroes. Secondly, with this skill the guard can carry out a multi-attack for approximately 40 units of damage.

What is Bernard's old key used for?
The Ancient Key in Baldur's Gate 3 is available when Bernard dies and opens the main door of the Ruined Tower. How to get to the basement of the Ruined Tower
You can go down to the tower basement in Baldur's Gate 3 in one of the following ways:
- Put on the ring "Guiding Light" and on the elevator platform you will notice a button that appears, interaction with which will lead directly to the basement. If you didn’t kill the boss, then don’t forget to pick up the ring from the table after voicing the necessary line.
