Opus Magnum in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 — the third quest from the miller Kreisel, in which you need to get a certain secret scripture in Trosk. The task can be completed as part of the search for ways to get to the wedding, or accepted after the events in Semin. You can reach the end of the quest only after the sixth story task "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
In the guide we will analyze the option of a full walkthrough to the wedding: where to get a dress, perfume and a book in the Opus Magnum quest in KCD 2. In addition, we will tell you whether it is worth betraying the miller and how this can be done.
How to Start the Opus Magnum Quest in KCD 2
"Opus Magnum" is the third quest in the Miller's quest chain, and is therefore available after completing the previous tasks:
The entire line can be completed both to obtain a wedding invitation as part of the story quest "Uninvited Guests at a Wedding" and to be taken after the celebration and imprisonment in Trosk. To do this, get to the mill in Lower Semin and talk to Kreisel.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Opus Magnum Quest Walkthrough
Indro helped the miller get the document from the town hall and find saltpeter in large quantities. All that was left was a small matter: find an alchemical book in Trosk and bring the writing to Kreisel. To do this, the man came up with a plan: find a beauty who would seduce the chamberlain Ulrich and sneak into the fortress. Not everything will go according to plan, so you will have to get the manuscript yourself.
If you complete the quest after "For Whom the Bell Tolls", you can already explore the fortress in free mode. Also, taking the quest after the wedding, you can go straight to the "Find a Book for the Miller" item, you will not need to get attributes for the girl.
Find a companion in the Zheleev baths
Go to the bathhouse owner Dorota at the Zheleevsky inn and tell her frankly that you are looking for a girl for business. The miller promises to pay generously, but the young lady must accompany the chamberlain Ulrich, known for his sdstic habits. Choose the answer options that will not offend the beauties:
- "We are talking about the chamberlain."
- "Why don't you want to deal with him?"
- "I see, but what next?"
The maids at the baths will tell you that a suitable girl with refined manners can be found in the camp - Anneline of Winterthur.
Find Anneline in the camp
Open the map to see a hint on where to find the Gypsy Camp. If you've been there before to learn from the Cat, use fast travel. Otherwise, head to Semin and start moving towards the green quest marker.
After a while you will reach a road where you can turn on automatic following ("E").
Once you reach the fork, take the forest path to the southwest. Use the Stay on Road function again until you reach the camp.
Using the quest marker, find Anneline: she is usually near the horses, sitting in front of the fire in the center, or walking around the area. Agree with her about the task from the miller:
- "Are you Mrs. Annelina?"
- "Your fame runs before you."
- "Enough for two cows."
- "You will be fed delicious food."
- "You can look at the horses there."
- "Pan Berg will be there."
- “You need to… meet him” – you will lose your reputation in any case.
- "Sorry."
- "About the book in Troska."
- "I asked about the chamberlain in the bathhouse."
- "So we have an agreement?"
- “I’ll get you some wine.”
After the conversation, autosave will work. If you plan to continue the quest later, sleep at the roadside camp before heading to Troskovitsa.
Get Mint's perfume for your companion
The target will require you to spend a lot of money or get things dishonestly. You can get the Minta perfume in Troskovitsa in the following ways:
- Purchased from the innkeeper Beta for 499 groschen.
- Stealing from Beta - you can't ask her about perfume or try to buy it back.
- Preparation through alchemy - the recipe is bought from the apothecary Emmerich for 225-233 groschen, but it is possible without a recipe.
Let's take a closer look at the options with theft and crafting.
Go behind the cart opposite the tavern and sleep until 4-5 am on the hay - please note, the save will not be created. Put on the most silent and unnoticeable set of clothes, for example, those things that were stolen from the bathhouse mistress in the quest "Materia Prima". Go to the tavern, turn into the right door and go up to the second floor.
Carefully search Beta for spirits: hold "E" and make sure the indicator stays dark. Once you have enough time, open the cells and exit the theft interface before the woman wakes up. Be prepared to spend several attempts.
If you decide to craft perfume, then collect three dandelions, mint и calendula. Next to the apothecary's house you will find an alchemy table.
- Pour wine as a base.
- Crush dandelion x3 and mint x1 in a mortar and then add them to the pot.
- Place the pot on the fire, heat it up using the bellows (“Q”) and wait for two turns of the hourglass.
- Remove the pot from the heat and throw in a handful of mint.
- Lower the cauldron, fan the fire and boil for another turn. Raise the cauldron and prepare to collect the potion.
- Take the bottle and distill the resulting decoction through a distiller.
If successful, the recipe will be automatically added to the alchemy book, even if it was not purchased beforehand.
Find a dress for your companion
The next test will be a visit to the tailor Bartoshek and an attempt to get the necessary outfit. As in the case of "Minta", its purchase will require 280 or more groschen. Due to the high cost of the quest item, let's consider how to steal a dress for a companion.
At night, the merchant's shop is closed with a complex lock that cannot be opened without pumping up your hacking skills. Go to the camp to save and rest until 10 a.m., when the tailor returns to work.
In the quietest things or without them at all, sneak in ("С") bying the merchant's line of sight onto private territory. If Bartoshek doesn't notice anything, calmly leave the shop with the dress.
Before an obvious theft, it is recommended to invest points into the "Fleeting Shadow" skill.
Get wine for Anneline
To earn reputation, you can complete an additional objective and get wine for your companion - any kind will do, even the cheapest:
- Buy in the tavern - go to any settlement and buy a drink for about 1 groschen.
- Find the overturned cart — you may have heard about it earlier from a merchant from Troskovice. Search the barrel that fell into the water near Zheleev's inn and get 17 units of cheap wine right away.
- Steal - with some chance you will find wine in chests or pockets of peasants.
Go to a wedding
Having obtained everything you need, return to the camp and give the things to the girl. Before setting off on your journey, you will need to choose an outfit for the wedding that gives at least 16 charm points. Suitable items can be bought from the tailor Bartoshek or you can try to steal them again.
We've covered this in a separate guide all the ways to get a wedding dress.
Return to your companion in decent clothes and go to the wedding. At this point, a new objective will start: "Discuss Kreisel's plan with Anneline." To complete it, you need to complete the fifth story quest. "Uninvited guests at the wedding".
To ensure that nothing interferes with your further search, save Ptashek from the gallows and win the favor of Mr. Otto in the quest "For whom the Bell Tolls". Also keep in mind that you can hand over the miller to the authorities and get out alternative ending with the hanging of all those involved.
Find a book for the miller
First of all, take all the things, including the wedding dress, following the chamberlain Ulrich to the allocated room. High charm will be needed for persuasion later.
Use the map to navigate and go to the east or west wing of the castle to get hints about the book from the scribe:
- In the western one, go up the already familiar path to the alchemy table until you overcome the stone staircase - behind the door on the left is the first of the possible locations of Erazim.
- If the man is in the east, go up the stairs to the plank hallway and go to the green door above the kitchen.
When talking to the clerk, use the option "Books are not toys!", to raise your reputation. From him you will learn about a nobleman named Nikvard, who took the necessary book, but never returned it.
Find out what is known about Nikvard
Additionally, you can ask Eradzim where to find witnesses and interrogate them. After that, green quest markers will appear on the map:
- Ask the cook what she knows about Nikvard - before doing this, change into your wedding clothes and a charm check: "I myself am the master's confidant".
- Find out what the maid knows about Nikvard - kindly read the note and praise the old man.
- Find out what the groom knows about Nikvard - bring him a long training sword from the lists.
Return to Eradzim and sum it up: "The book fell into the outhouse".
Find Nikvard
Go beyond Troska and go around it on the left edge. Climb the path to the wall of the fortress, where you will notice a corpse in the waste, and next to it the scripture "The Secret of the Dennitsa".
If you somehow missed the quest and the book disappeared from your inventory, return to the place where you found it - there is a good chance it will appear on the map again.
Take the book to the miller
Go straight to Lower Semin to talk to the miller about what to do next. Kreisel will finally decide to let Henry in on the plan and send him to the lair.
Go to the lair
Go out onto the familiar path and order the horse not to leave it to get to the place of the first meeting with Bonka. By that time, all of Kreisel's accomplices will have gathered in the lair to talk to the protagonist:
- "You will give me a new assignment" - you will earn reputation twice if you did not kill the dog in the quest "Forbidden Fruit".
- "Keep silent."
- "You had a good mother."
- "Alchemy?"
- "Let's get down to business."
Next, a cutscene will begin with the experimental creation of black powder, and the quest will come to an end.
What happens if you betray the miller
If you decide to get the second ending, go to the town hall in Troskovitsa to hand over the miller to the bailiff. Tell the bailiff Drozd everything and agree to watch Kreisel. Return to searching for the book and complete the task in the classic version. Everyone in the lair will be arrested and hanged soon.
The outcome of the quest will have almost no effect on the game, except that the miller is a "Skills Teacher" and for 100 groschen can teach Indro the basics of thievery, alchemy and lock picking. As a result, after killing the NPC, one of the leveling options will disappear.
