This guide will tell you where to find all the illithid larvae in Baldur's Gate 3, and how to use them.

Where to Find All Illithid Parasite Samples in Baldur's Gate 3

During the completion of all three acts, you can get more than 40 illithid larvae. Let's take a closer look at where to find each of them.

Parasite sample 1

Location: Emerald Grove.

Travel to the Rune Circle Neighborhood emerald grove and move west from it. Follow the path near the mountain to stay on track until you see a group of Absolute cultists - Brynna and Andrik standing over a dying dwarf Edowin. Talk to them and convince them that you are also one of the Faithful, so that they do not attack. Afterwards, interact with the corpse and select the option “Surrender to the will of your body and willingly accept the influence of the larva.”

Parasite sample 2

Location: Circle of Druids.

The second larva is located in the Druid Grove. To get her, enter the chambers, and then the Enclave library, where Nettie was previously met. Sample costs on the table near the drow corpse.

Parasite sample 3

Location: Emerging road.

Near the cave near the Sunrise Road, which is located north of the Extinct Village, you can find a flock of gnolls led by Flind. Approach her and talk to her to convince her to eat the rest of the gnolls first, and then herself. Then go to the corpse and pick up another sample of the mind flayer parasite.

Parasite Sample 4-6

Location: Goblin camp.

Three leaders can be found in the Goblin Camp, all of them are carriers of parasites:

• Vernaya Kishka.

• Dror Ragzlin.

• Minthara.

To obtain the parasites, side with the druids in the conflict in the Emerald Grove and agree to fulfill the request Khalsina. Kill the goblin leaders and from their corpses you can pick up one illithid larva. An alternative option to get the larva is to the Absolute and clear the grove.

Parasite sample 7

Location: Grimforge.

Another larva is located at Nere in Grimforge, which can be reached from Underdark. To get it you need to either kill the NPC or help him. Please note that if you stop for a long rest or leave the location, Nere will immediately die and the dwarves will leave, which will make it impossible to complete the remaining quests.

Parasite sample 8

Location: Tavern "Last Light".

Defeat Marcus Flamingfist and loot another illithid larva from his corpse. If you give Isobel to Marcus, you can also get a larva. Read in a separate guide, what to do with Isobel: save or kill.

Parasite Sample 9-15

Location: Moon Towers.

In the Lunar Towers you can find several illithid larvae at once.

Two sample lying on the docks, inside one of the Zhentarim cargo crates on the ship. This ship may sail away, but it will later be possible to find it in Baldur's Gate in Act 3.

Another parasite is found by Linsella, who is standing with the gnolls in the kitchen. There are two ways to get the larva - kill Linsella yourself or convince the gnoll to interrupt mind with her. After this, a sample of the parasite can be collected from her corpse.

The next larva is in the possession of the fanatic Krizt. To get it, go down from the prison into the pit where the corpses are dumped.

Others three parasites can be found by killing three NPCs located at the entrance to the Lunar Towers - Zealot Malik, Adept Merim and Acolyte Z'rell.

Parasite sample 16

Location: Mind flayer colony.

In the northern part of the Mind Flayer Colony you can find a salt pool. Interact with it to pull out another parasite sample.

Parasite Sample 17-19

Location: Githyanki Manger.

Three larvae at once are in the Illek nursery, in the room where the zaitisk is located. One of them can be found on the table to the right of him, two more can be found on another table to the left. Note that collecting these larvae is considered stealing, so it's best to use invisibility or hide. Also in this location you can find githyanki egg, required for Esther's quest.

Parasite sample 20

Location: Astral Plane.

A special larva that is issued directly illithid abilities, and also changes the appearance of the main character - he adds black veins to his face.

Parasite Sample 21-23

Location: Rivington.

In the west of the Rivington location, three larvae can be found. One of them is located on a barrel under a stone arch leading to the beach.

Two more are in storage on the ship.

Location: Fortress on Snake Rock

As suggested in the comments, another sample of the parasite can be found in Gortasha, where you will find a larva in the chest to the right of it.

Parasite Sample 25-42

Location: Baldur's Gate, Lower City.

Several examples of the parasite can be found in the Lower City:

• To find the first grub, head to Lower Town and enter Bloomridge Park. Next, move north, where you will see the cultists of Bhaal. After the battle, the sample can be collected from the corpse of Manip Edenos.

• Go to the Basilisk Gate and find Laura in the barracks. Talk to her to begin the "Save Vanru" quest. Follow the quest until you get to the basement of the Confused Mermaid. Follow the mushrooms to the upper platform, in the corner of which you will find another sample of the parasite.

• Kill Avery Sonshal in Felogir's Fireworks southwest of the Basilisk Gate rune circle and collect the larva.
• You can pick up two more larvae from the corpses of Sally and Dravo Flimm, Gortash's parents.

• The next sample of the parasite is in safe No. 6 in the ing Chamber.
• Another one is on the table next to Omelum, in the Iron Throne prison.
• On the table on the ground floor of the Magic Supplies store, which is located in the Ramazit Tower, you will find another larva.
• There is another one on the table on the second floor of the Community.
• You will find another parasite in the basement. To get the larva, go down through the hatch in the house between the Confused Mermaid and Laura's house.
• Six parasites are in front of the Steel Guard Foundry aboard the ship. To pick them up, you will have to defeat the Steel Guardians.
• Near the ship you can find an NPC named Charg Elvek. Kill him to get the larva.
• You can pick up the last sample of the parasite on the table in the laboratory of the Foundry Steel Guard.

How to use illithid larvae in Baldur's Gate 3

Simply collecting the larvae is not enough, they must be absorbed. To do this, go to your inventory, find a sample and select the “Eat” option.

This action can only be performed after a dream appears during one of the long rests. illithid abilities.

Once the parasites are consumed, they will turn into skill points that can be distributed in the illithid skill tree by choosing your preferred abilities.

Is it worth using samples of illithid parasites?

Using illithid parasites opens up a unique skill tree, which in some cases makes the game much easier. Learning basic skills has no consequences, however, absorbing special larvae that are given out in the story can change the character's appearance, adding dark veins to his face or even turning him into an illithid. Also, as a result of application, additional dialogues with companions may open, but the relationship with them is will have almost no effect.
