Ice metal in Baldur's Gate 3: how to find it and why you need it

Where to find Ice Metal in Baldur's Gate 3

You can find Ice Metal in the myconid colony Underdark, however, getting to the item is not easy - the guard room where it is stored is closed and can only be opened by the colony ruler Spav. He is ready to unblock the age for travelers, but only after they fulfill his request.

Find Lord Spav

Lord Spav lives in the myconid colony and can be found on the cap of a large red mushroom in the middle of the settlement (X: 81; Y: 400). Talk to him and agree to carry out the assignment to destroy the dark dwarves terrorizing the myconid growth in Underdark, after which the task “Defeat the Dvergar invaders” is activated.

Complete the quest “Defeat the Dvergar Invaders”

Dvergar live in the Underdark, in an area called "The Shore". This is a small port, which is one of the transport hubs, through which you will get to Grimforge and locations of the second act. Travelers will have to fight a squad of dark gnomes and the risen undead. In battle, try to hold the height and do not run to the coast immediately: zombies are weak and not very smart, but they can climb ladders, so it is better not to go down to them and try to shoot everyone from above.

Go to the Watch Gate

Having cleared the coast of the Underdark, report to Spav about your success. For completing the assignment, the ruler will reward the heroes with the title Peacekeepers and the special status of the area “Disputes of Understanding” - it allows you to communicate telepathically with some NPCs in the colony. Also, as a reward, Spav will open a guard room where various valuables are stored and the lifeless body of a drow lies, from which you can take Ice Metal. The room itself is located in the colony, not far from merchant Derrit bone cloak.

What is ice metal used for in BG3?

To create a powerful staff Mournful cold, which significantly enhances ice magic, will require three magical artifacts:
