Clervey's story in Genshin Impact

Clairvie is the natural daughter of Crucabena, the past head of the Hearth House and Peruer They saw the cruelty of Krukabena, and her daughter more than once tried to tell strangers about the horrors happening in the Hearth House. However, each time the mother mercilessly punished the girl for trying to escape, thereby showing that everyone in the orphanage is equal to each other.

The children of Hearthhouse were trained from childhood to the fact that one day they would have to defeat their brothers and sisters in order to become king and take the place of “Mother”. Therefore, years later, the matured Clairvi gave up trying to change the orphanage, realizing that she could not kill her mother or escape from the organization. Then she decides to die freely, and voluntarily dies in a duel with Peruer.

Later, the girl appears as a phantom in the current Hearth House, where she helps orphans and, not realizing her death, continues to dream of escaping from the orphanage. Then the matured Harlequin frees the spirit of Clairvey, expelling her from the Hearth House, thanks to which the girl’s soul disappears.

Why did Harlequin fight with Clervey?

After watching the short anime, some players had a question: why did Harlequin kill Clairvey? In order to understand the reason, you need to know the following points:

  • Firstly, the children of Hearthhouse were prepared from an early age for the fact that they would one day have to fight each other for the place of king. Despite the cruelty, the orphans believed that this was how it should be. From a young age, Arlequin herself knew about her strength and understood that she could defeat everyone.
  • Secondly, when Peruer became friends with Clervey, they thought together about how to stop Krukabena. However, not finding a solution, the girl abandoned all attempts at resistance and chose death. Moreover, as Harlequin says, the girls fought seriously, but at some point, due to the closeness of her friends, Clairvie decided to die at her hands and allowed herself to be defeated.

Meaning of the name Clervi

The name Clervi belongs to the saint, and is translated from Gallic as “jewel”, “pearl”, sometimes as “strength”. Another interesting detail is that in Welsh mythology, Clervey is the beautiful daughter of the witch Crucabena, whose legend has some similarities with the story from Harlequin's childhood.
