Lord Gortash in Baldur's Gate 3 is located in the Fortress on Serpent Rock, in the north of Rivington, which can be reached for the first time in the third act of the game. How to deal with Gortash in BG3: possible options
There are several options for how to deal with Gortash. Whether he dies or not, he will still end up with a Netherian Stone as a reward.
Battle in the Audience Chamber
The coronation of Gortash is taking place in the audience hall, during which it will be possible to enter into dialogue with him for the first time. The lord will not attack immediately, but will try to make a deal and ask to kill Orin Red, and then bring the Netherian stone that belonged to her. Refusal of the deal at this stage is real suicide. Tactics of the battle with Gortash
Let's look at two options for the battle with Enver Gortash. Choose tactics based on the level of your heroes and your own gaming preferences.
1 method
The first way to kill a lord is to go to his chambers and attack there. If the steel guards are destroyed in advance and the characters are sufficiently upgraded, then the battle will take place without complications.
Kill three lieutenants - Gortash's guard can be a big problem, placing nasty debuffs on characters such as reducing the chance of successful attacks and dodges.
As the battle progresses, the Grenade Thrower mechanism will scatter projectiles that explode over several turns. Pick up bombs and throw them back at your opponents. The explosion will take a lot of health and help save precious spell slots.
Beware of the Incinerators - they hang on the pillars and attack with a powerful fiery wave that destroys a lot of health. Pay attention to the red aura on the ground - this is the affected area of the installations. Push your opponents towards dangerous mechanisms to remove a significant portion of their health.
Avoid ranged attacks while the shield is active. When Lord Gortash takes cover behind the shield, stop using arrows or any long-range spells. Each shot will be reflected back and take away a lot of health. Throw a character with powerful melee attacks into battle and hit the shield until it goes down.
Beware of the Hand of Shadow - it periodically hits the ground and can easily knock out characters for several turns. While this skill is active, Gortash's HP increases significantly, so save your powerful third circle spells before activating Hand of Shadow and quickly take down his bonus health.
Push Gortash away from the Incarnations of Tyranny - they increase the lord's damage, so push the enemy out of their range using any method.
2 method
Another, more cunning option is to lure Gortash to the top of the fortress and kill him there, away from traps and guards. Before entering the lord's chambers, disband the group and go left from the main door, all the way.
Use Misty Step or Fly to reach the top of the tower and break open the door that leads to the room above Gortash's chambers.
Use the lever to lower the ladder for the companions who remain below. Group up again so that your partners can climb up.
When the entire group is on top, disband the squad again and send one of your companions down to attack Gortash. Go back upstairs and wait for the lord to come up the stairs. Without traps and guards, he poses little threat and can be killed quickly.
Awards
As a reward for killing the lord, you will receive the Netherian Stone of Gortash, which will be needed later in the story. The boss will also drop the following equipment:
- Factory-made crossbow with +2 enchantment and the skills Illuminating Shot and Disorienting Beam.
