Vagabond Kenshin season 2: release date for new episodes of the remake

The release date for season 2 of the remake of Hobo Kenshin has been announced - 3 оOctober 2024. The creators promise a runtime of 20+ episodes and a show without a split-court. According to studio management, the sequel will immediately cover the Kyoto arc of Nobuhiro Watsuki's original manga, while the 90s series introduced fillers before it. LIDEN FILMS, which announced a sequel, will remain responsible for the development.

The story is set in Japan in the eleventh year of the Meiji era and centers on former Hitokiri Kenshin Himura. Having shed a lot of blood in the past for the glory of the imperialists, he now travels around the Japanese islands and helps people. The warrior has renounced killing and carries a special sword with a blade on the back. Fate brings the young man to Tokyo, where he meets Kaoru Kamiya, the young owner of the dojo, and s the girl when they try to deceive her. This meeting became fateful and marks a new chapter in the life of the noble swordsman.

According to the announcement, Vagabond Kenshin 2 is based on the Kyoto arc, which spans volumes 7-18 of the manga. It takes place over the course of three months, from May 5, 1878 to the Obon Festival in Kyoto. The main antagonist of the series, Makoto Shishio, is introduced into the plot, replacing the main character as a hitokiri. The man is Kenshin's opposite in belief and image and is a serious threat in many ways.
